UFO Over Memphis Hoax Images

According to a post that is going viral on Facebook, a number of people have spotted what appears to be a giant UFO emerging from the clouds over Memphis. The post features several pictures of the UFO that it claims were taken by different people indifferent parts of the city. The post asks why the images are not being broadcast by the major media outlets and suggests that ‘somebody has some explaining to do’.

But sadly, or thankfully, depending on your point of view, the images do not depict a real alien spacecraft or even one of terrestrial origin.

In fact, the pictures are modified versions of an artwork created by digital artist Jukka Korhonen. The work, titled ‘V for Victory’, was inspired by the science fiction series ‘V’. The artist posted it to the CGSociety website back in 2006.

Clearly, pranksters have used Jukka’s image to create a series of UFO pictures that feature different locations. Other versions claim that the UFO appeared in the skies over Benguela, Angola. But, all versions feature the same UFO and cloud formation.
